Mission Statement

The mission of Adult & Community Education (ACE) is to provide educational opportunities, through the use of school and community resources, enabling learners to become responsible, independent contributors in the community in which they live and work.

About Us

Adult & Community Education (ACE) is located in Tallahassee, Florida’s capital city, at 283 Trojan Trail, Tallahassee, Florida 32311. ACE is a part of the Leon County School System. Leon County Schools offers a full educational program to 34,100 students in forty-eight school and program sites. These include preschool, elementary (PreK-5), middle school (6-8), high school (9-12) and special district wide program centers for specific populations of all ages and ability levels.

Contact ACE at 850-922-5343 or email info@ACE-Leon.org or fax 850-922-5352 for class information, registration or GED testing questions.

Classes offered at ACE include adult basic education, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), GED Preparation, High School Credit, GED and High School Credit On-line classes, Adults with Disabilities and Senior Adult Learner programs. These courses are offered free of charge to qualified adults 16 or older.

ACE is the official GED Testing Center for Leon County. Individuals who pass the GED are awarded a State of Florida High School Diploma. Test candidates are encouraged to enroll in classes to prepare for the GED Test.

In addition to programs serving adult education students, ACE is home to the Region 1 Regional Training Council (RTC) and the Panhandle Adult Literacy Center (PALC). The Region I Training Council was created to meet the professional development needs of practitioners working with adult education students in the fifteen counties of Region I, the Panhandle of Florida. These providers include school districts, community colleges, volunteer literacy programs, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and correctional facilities. PALC provides support services to literacy providers, including volunteers, in the Panhandle. The Center works with adult education programs, public libraries, volunteer organizations, and other literacy providers throughout the Panhandle offering a variety of technical assistance and training. Both of these services are funded through grants from the Florida Department of Education, Division of Workforce Education.

Volunteers are an essential part of ACE programs and are needed throughout the year. Business partners are needed to support programs in many aspects including serving as guest speakers and assisting students with employability skills. Anyone interested in becoming an ACE volunteer or business partner, please call 850-922-5343.
